SEMINAR 5 - “GALAXIES OF UNITY: Exploring New Worlds Together” GDAP Academic Roadshow 2026

I. Details of the event/activity

On March 30, 2026, I attended a seminar called “GALAXIES OF UNITY: Exploring New Worlds Together,” which was part of the GDAP Academic Roadshow 2026. Organized by the Game Developers Association of the Philippines, the event focused on the game development industry, highlighting creativity, modern technology, and teamwork. The session gave students a clear look at the different career paths in gaming, how professional studios operate, and the tools used to build interactive digital projects. II. Reflections on the webinar/activity give rise to (learnings)

The seminar gave me a fresh perspective on what it takes to build video games. I learned that game development requires much more than just writing code; it relies heavily on artistic design, storytelling, and close cooperation among different team members. The speakers explained how programmers, artists, and writers must work together seamlessly to build a great user experience. It was also clear that the gaming market is growing fast, offering many new opportunities. Hearing from actual professionals helped me understand the hard work and commitment needed to succeed in this competitive field. III. Reflections on Possibilities on Implementing Some of the Webinar Input on a Practical Level (Practical Application of Learnings)

I plan to apply these insights by focusing on teamwork and better communication during group projects. Since building software and applications requires input from different people, being a good collaborator is essential. This event also reminded me to focus on user experience and creativity when working on my own development projects. Finally, it motivated me to look into new design tools and technologies on my own so I can expand my skill set and be better prepared for a career in the tech sector. IV. Positive Feedback (on the event organization)
The event was highly engaging, educational, and smoothly run. The guest speakers did an excellent job of breaking down their industry experiences into simple, clear points that were easy for students to follow. The atmosphere was very encouraging, which made the whole experience enjoyable. I think the seminar successfully achieved its goal of inspiring students and showing them the real-world possibilities within the technology and creative industries.
V. Suggestions for improvements to be made/consider for future activities The seminar was great, but future programs could be improved by adding a hands-on component. Including short workshops, live coding, or a showcase of actual game projects would give students a better look at how games are made. Seeing the development process in action would make the lessons feel even more practical and interesting.
