GC CCS Techfest 2026

I. Details of the event/activity

Our campus held Techfest on May 9, 2026, which featured a wide variety of activities, including technical seminars, project displays, and skills competitions. As part of this big event, we also went to the Civic Center to attend a specific program organized by the College of Computing Studies (CCS) and the Bachelor of Science in Entertainment and Multimedia Computing (BSEMC) department. While there were many different activities happening throughout the day, my main focus was on the esports segment, as I was one of the organizers responsible for handling the Valorant tournament. My specific role was to act as an in-game observer, watching the live matches closely to ensure fair play, monitor for any rule violations, check the integrity of the games, and keep the tournament running smoothly and honestly. II. Reflections on the webinar/activity give rise to (learnings)

Being part of the organizing team and acting as an observer gave me a great look at what goes on behind the scenes of a live event. I learned that managing an esports competition takes a lot more than just knowing the game; it requires strict attention to detail, quick problem-solving, and clear communication with both players and co-organizers. Staying focused on the screen to watch for fair play and dealing with sudden technical setups showed me how important it is to keep a cool head under pressure. It also made me realize how much teamwork and planning are needed to run a successful project from start to finish. III. Reflections on Possibilities on Implementing Some of the Webinar Input on a Practical Level (Practical Application of Learnings)

I plan to use the coordination and management skills I learned from this tournament in my future IT projects and coursework. Serving as an observer taught me how to analyze situations quickly and make logical decisions on the spot, which is a very useful skill in any tech field. I will also apply the teamwork habits I practiced to my group projects at school. Additionally, managing the tournament setup has motivated me to learn more about network stability and system performance so I can be better prepared for handling future technical projects. IV. Positive Feedback (on the event organization)
Techfest as a whole was highly engaging and brought in a massive crowd of students across all its different activities, including the venue at the Civic Center. The atmosphere during the Valorant tournament was incredibly energetic, and the players showed great sportsmanship. The event was well-managed, and the crowd was fully invested in watching the matches. It was very rewarding to see the hard work we put into organizing the tournament pay off with a successful turnout and a highly interactive audience.
V. Suggestions for improvements to be made/consider for future activities While Techfest had a great mix of events and the tournament was a success, the gaming portion could be improved next time by setting up a larger viewing area with a big screen or a live stream for spectators. This would make it easier for the large crowd to watch the action closely. Also, setting aside a brief period for all teams to test the computers and network connections before the official matches start would help prevent minor technical delays and make the competition run even smoother.
